How To Perform Standing Hip Abduction
- Stand next to a wall or a stable object for support, balancing on one leg.
- Lift the opposite leg out to the side, focusing on contracting the outer glute (gluteus medius). (It's okay to keep a slight bend in the knee.)
- Maintain your balance and raise your leg as high as possible within your range of motion without letting it wobble.
- Keep tension in your glutes as you slowly lower your leg back to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of reps, then switch sides and perform the same movement with the other leg.
